Executive Director

Position: Fulltime

Hours per week: 40 hours, including occasional travel across Canada
 
Location: Role is fully remote with access to occasional office space, preference of Vancouver or Toronto

Annual Salary: $80,000-$85,000, plus benefits and bonus 

Position Overview

League of Innovators is a national Canadian charity that helps accelerate youth entrepreneurs through life and career. We offer accessible programs and education for young people aged 15-30, from discovery through acceleration. Ultimately, our goal is to amplify the impact of future innovators and entrepreneurs while shortening their path to success. Since 2017 we have worked with over 11,000 youth and 600 youth entrepreneurs from across Canada, who have created over 850 Million in enterprise value. Some of our alumni include Tara Bosch - Smart Sweets, Saba Mohebpour - Spocket, Taran and Bunny Gahatrora - Blume, Madison Guy and Jason Yee - GrantMe, Matthew Smith - Mazumago. About You:
As the Executive Director, you will get to partner with our Board, proven entrepreneurs Swish Goswami, Ryan Holmes, Manny Padda, Chad Bayne, and Cheesan Chew, and other incredible mentors. As the leader, you will make a massive impact in the Canadian startup ecosystem as you take League of Innovators into its next stage of evolution. You will get to identify blue sky opportunities for rapid program expansion, donation revenue growth, strategic partnership with like-minded organizations and brand building, while representing a community of entrepreneurs passionately scaling their ventures.  

Ideally, you will have 4+ years of experience in leadership and new business development, operational planning and executive-level financial, accounting, and legal expertise. You are passionate and engaged within the startup ecosystem and are excited to support the next generation in reaching their entrepreneurial potential. In short, you are a highly effective "doer" -- this is an exciting hands-on, tactical role where being creative, savvy, detail-oriented, and having a broad-based understanding of the philanthropic/charitable, startup/entrepreneurship and education spaces (both online and off) is pivotal. 

What You’ll Get To Do

Leadership 
- Working with the Board of Directors to develop and execute strategy
- Building and executing a strong and diversified fundraising strategy 
- Providing operational leadership to the team
- Overseeing legal and charitable administration of the organization
- Representing the organization across the startup and innovation ecosystem

Strategic Planning and Partnership Development
- Identifying, developing, and pursuing new programming, expansion, and partnerships
- Facilitating the development of new programs and services
- Developing relationships with strategic national and international partners to maximize the scope of services offered

Reporting & Financials
- Overseeing the financial management of the organization and its programs
- Preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Interfacing with external auditors, legal counsel, and banking authorities

Resource Development 
- Leading on the fundraising strategy and execution plan
- Participating in application and supervision around relevant grants and funding
- Managing major gifts, donors, government funding, corporate sponsorship est. 750K-1M annual
- Helping create 'signature programs' to secure financial support around campaign initiative roll-outs
- Seeking revenue-generating opportunities to leverage the LOI network and knowledge

What You’ll Bring:
- Minimum 4 years professional experience leading an organization or a team
- Sponsorship development and corporate major giving experience is a must
- Familiarity with the startup ecosystem and non-profit environment is a great asset 
- Hands-on knowledge around corporate philanthropy and social purpose
- Experience developing fundraising plans that have led to increased revenue
- Exceptional digital aptitudes, including online tools such as Google Docs, Keela, MailChimp etc.
